The SportsArt E872MA ICARE Motor-Assisted Elliptical Trainer is designed to provide motor guidance for assistive rehabilitation exercises for those recovering from conditions that impact neuromuscular function such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and others. The intelligent control provides a movement that is neither always assistive nor always resistive. It is designed to provide an “assist as needed” approach that is similar to what a therapist provides physically and intuitively during gait training.
The SportsArt E872MA ICARE Motor-Assisted Elliptical Trainer can help individuals regain or retain the flexibility and strength required for walking, particularly if the muscle demands are customized to those with weakness during rehab. The intelligently controlled, motor-assisted leg movements closely mimic the kinematic and electromyographic (EMG) patterns of walking. Noted in development studies, ICARE training can help individuals regain or retain walking and fitness in part because muscle and cardiorespiratory training demands can be customized to the unique needs of individuals during rehab and following discharge. The elliptical-style exercise features adjustable levels of assistance, speed, and step length to tailor the movement to the patient's ability and comfort. The unique MyFlex™ pedal cushioning system creates a comfortable workout platform, and the cushioned pedals with foot straps provide secure support. The motor provides assistance as long as the user is below the set Strides Per Minute (SPM). When the user achieves one SPM over the set SPM, the motor disengages smoothly and no longer provides assistance as the user continues to train. The motor reengages to assist when the user’s speed decreases back to the set SPM.
The SportsArt E872MA ICARE Motor-Assisted Elliptical Trainer is designed to allow the user's movement patterns to emulate the motion and muscle demands of walking. The forward and reverse motor assistance allows speeds up to 65 cycles per minute. The stride range adjusts from 18 to 29 inches, with fingertip shift-on-the-fly controls. The user can engage their arms in training for a complete body workout. The controls include contact and telemetry heart rate monitoring. A remote control is included for easy, unobtrusive clinician adjustments. The SportsArt E872MA ICARE Motor-Assisted Elliptical Trainer adaptive motor assistance automatically adjusts to suit the user’s exercise needs.
